Inpatient Program
Lakeridge Health's Inpatient Mental Health Program assesses and stabilizes people suffering from mental health issues or situational crises. Our goal is provide a safe space for people be treated and stabilized so they can return to our community.
A person is admitted--either voluntarily or involuntarily--based on the determination of a psychiatrist. Most people admitted to our program were seen in an Emergency Room by our Crisis Intervention Team.
Our health care team includes psychiatrists, nurses, social workers, and addiction counsellors. People admitted to our inpatient program generally stay less than two weeks. As patients approach their discharge date, their health care team will develop a plan for continuing treatment and make referrals to community mental health agencies, health and social service organizations and follow-up arrangements with doctors and psychiatrists as required.
Visiting Hours
Our program consists of three locked units. Visiting information is as follows.
Inpatient Mental Health Unit
- In addition to general visiting guidelines (Visiting Us - Lakeridge Health), general visiting ends at 9:30 p.m.
- Two visitors per patient
- Booking a time in advance is encouraged, but not required to support care organization around the visit time and space considerations
Rapid Assessment Short Stay Unit
- In addition to general visiting guidelines (Visiting Us - Lakeridge Health), general visiting ends at 9:30 p.m.
- Two visitors per patient
- Booking a time in advance is encouraged, but not required to support care organization around the visit time and space considerations
Psychiatric Intensive Care Unit
- Visits are encouraged to begin after 10:00 a.m.

Directions
Inpatient Mental Health Unit
If you're entering through the north entrance, go straight past the escalators and make a left when you reach the end of the hallway. Follow the hallway to C wing elevators and take them to the 4th floor. When you exit the elevator, take the hallway to the left and you'll find the entrance to the unit. Press the intercom button for admittance.
