Pocket Health
Instead of picking up a CD of your diagnostic images, a new online service, PocketHealth, offers Lakeridge Health patients and their families access to their medical imaging records online. To enroll, patients can visit the Pocket Health website. Once enrolled, patients can view their entire available medical imaging history from all Lakeridge Health hospital sites, share imaging instantly with any physician or even burn their own CD/USB from home. There is a $10.00/month fee at the time of enrolment which includes permanent access to all previous imaging and radiologist reports as well as any new exams patients undergo over the following two weeks.
Bone Mineral Density
Bone Mineral Density is a fast and simple procedure that evaluates and helps manage osteoporosis. It is offered at our Ajax Pickering Hospital.

Enter through the east or west entrance and proceed down the main hallway to the Diagnostic Imaging Reception. Operates Mondays-Fridays 7 am - 4:30 pm.
At Oshawa Hospital
From the main lobby, head towards the gift shop and continue past it into the hallway that leads to the Emergency Department. Continue past the Emergency Department into the N Wing. Bone Mineral Density is within the Nuclear Medicine department at the end of the hallway on the left. Operates Mondays - Fridays 6:30 am - 5 pm.
Breast MRI (Magnetic Resonance Imaging)
A test that produces a highly detailed image that can't be obtained by an ultrasound or mammogram. Breast MRIs are offered at our Oshawa Hospital.

Enter through the main lobby and follow the signs to the MRI department on B1 Level, N Wing. Hours vary.
Cardiopulmonary Exercise Testing
A test that records your heartbeat while you walk on a treadmill. This test takes 30 to 40 minutes and helps your doctor evaluate how well your heart responds to exercise. Cardiopulmonary Exercise Testing is offered at our Oshawa Hospital.

Enter through the main lobby and go past the down escalators and turn right into the A Wing hallway. Continue past the coffee kiosk and into the G Wing elevator lobby. Take the G Wing elevators to the B1 Level. Check in at the reception desk to the left of the elevators.
CT Scan
A 3D X-ray taken by a large machine called a CT (Computed Tomography) Scanner. CT Scanners are used to check for a variety of conditions, from strokes and kidney stones to cancer and broken bones. We have one CT Scanner at each of our Ajax Pickering and Bowmanville hospitals and two CT Scanners at our Oshawa hospital. Read more on our CT Scan page...

At Bowmanville Hospital
Enter through the main lobby. Turn right and continue into the next hallway towards the A elevators. Follow the signs to the CT Scanner. Operates 24/7 year round.
At Oshawa Hospital
From the main lobby, continue past the down escalators into the A Wing hallway. Turn right and walk down the hall past the Coffee Kiosk, and the G Wing elevators. Please check in at the Diagnostic Imaging Reception and Waiting Area at the end of the hallway. Operates 24/7 year round.
Echocardiogram
An echocardiogram is essentially an ultrasound of your heart. It provides live images of your heart that helps your physician evaluate the health of your heart. Echocardiogram is offered at our Ajax Pickering, Bowmanville and Oshawa Hospitals.

At Ajax Pickering Hospital
Enter through the east or west entrance and proceed down the main hallway to the Cardiac Diagnostic Department. Operates 7 am - 3 pm everyday (except STAT holidays).
At Bowmanville Hospital
Enter through the main lobby and turn right into the main hallway. Turn left and check in at the X-ray department across from the A elevators. Operates weekdays 8 am - 4 pm except Thursdays 8 am - 8 pm.
At Oshawa Hospital
Enter through the main lobby and go past the down escalators and turn right into the A Wing hallway. Continue past the coffee kiosk and into the G Wing elevator lobby. Take the G Wing elevators to the B1 Level. Check in at the reception desk to the left of the elevators. Operates 8 am - 4 pm everyday including STAT days.
Port Perry Hospital's echocardiogram is for inpatients and Emergency Department patients, operating 1 pm - 4 pm Mondays to Fridays (except STAT days).
Interventional Radiology
Interventional Radiology consists of a broad range of procedures such as treating tumours, taking organ biopsies or placing stents by inserting tiny instruments and thin plastic tubes (catheters) into the body via an artery or vein. X-ray, CT or Ultrasound images are used to localize the catheter within the exact area where the procedure or treatment is to be performed. This reduces the need for traditional surgery and improves recovery times as treatment can be performed via a small plastic tube about the size of a straw.

MRI (Magnetic Resonance Imaging)
A scan that uses a magnetic field and radio waves to create detailed images of the body. MRIs are used to provide valuable information on glands and organs within the abdomen, as well as the structure of joints, soft tissues and bones of the body. Enter through the east or west entrance and proceed down the main hallway following the directions to MRI. Registration is within MRI. Operates Mondays to Fridays from 7 am - 7 pm and Saturdays/Sundays 7 am - 3 pm.
At Oshawa Hospital
From the main lobby, follow the signs for MRI Registration located on B1 Level, N Wing. Operates Mondays to Fridays from 6 am - 10 pm and Saturdays/Sundays 6 am - 2 pm.
Mammography / OBSP
An x-ray exam of the breast that is used to detect and evaluate breast changes. Mammograms are offered at our Ajax Pickering, Bowmanville and Oshawa Hospitals. This service also includes the Ontario Breast Screening Program (OBSP).

Enter through the main lobby and turn right into the main hallway. Turn left and check in at the X-ray department across from the A elevators. Operates weekdays 8 am - 4 pm with Thursdays 8 am - 8 pm (except STAT days).
At Oshawa Hospital
Enter through the main lobby and follow the signs leading to the Breast Assessment Centre on B1 Level, of N Wing. Operates Mondays, Wednesdays, Fridays 7:30 am - 4:30 pm and Tuesdays and Thursdays 7:30 am - 8 pm (except STAT days).

Nuclear Medicine
A medical imaging procedure where radiopharmaceuticals are administered by IV injection, inhalation, swallowed or consumed as a drink by the patient. Images are created by the body emitting gamma photons that are detected by a specialized camera. Read more on our Nuclear Medicine page...

At Oshawa Hospital
From the main lobby, head towards the gift shop and continue past it into the hallway that leads to Diagnostic Imaging (N Wing). Nuclear Medicine is towards the end of the hallway on the left. Operates Mondays - Fridays from 6:30 am - 5 pm.
Ultrasound
A device that uses high frequency sound waves to create an image of the inside of your body. Ultrasounds are used to detect problems in the liver, heart, kidney or the abdomen. They are typically used to check babies growing in their mothers' womb. Ultrasound is offered at our Ajax Pickering, Bowmanville, Oshawa and Port Perry Hospitals.

At Oshawa Hospital

At Port Perry Hospital
Enter through the Emergency Department entrance and check in at the Emergency Registration Desk. Operates Mondays to Fridays 8:00 a.m - 11:30 a.m. (except STAT days).

X-ray
A test that produces images of the structures inside your body, particularly your bones. Some types of X-rays use a contrast medium such as iodine or barium to produce greater detail on the X-ray images. X-ray is offered year round 24 hours a day at Ajax Pickering, Bowmanville and Oshawa Hospitals; onsite Mondays through Sundays from 8 am to midnight and by on-call midnight through 8 am at Port Perry Hospital; and on-call, afternoons only Mondays through Thursdays at Whitby Hospital.
