Internationally Educated Nurse Career Pathway Program

Like many health-care systems across Ontario and Canada, Lakeridge Health is supporting and working with internationally educated nurses (IENs) to find career pathways in our hospitals.

IENs are nurses who received their training outside of Canada and who have come to work in this country. These health-care professionals bring much knowledge, skills, and expertise; however, to work as a nurse in Ontario, IENs must successfully meet requirements established by the College of Nurses of Ontario (CNO), the province’s governing body for the nursing profession.

To support IENs to meet CNO requirements, Lakeridge Health is offering an IEN career pathway program to help them start their careers in Ontario and transition into registered nursing positions. Learn more about this program here.

New Graduate Initiative (NGG)

  • mentorship from an experienced nurse
  • opportunity gain experience in multiple departments/programs
  • extended orientation and additional support while transitioning into Nursing
  • opportunity to transition into a full time position
  • experience working with a talented, dedicated and compassionate team of Nurses

Nurses participating in the NGG will be scheduled rotations in four week blocks in Medicine, Post Acute Specialty Services (PASS) and Inpatient Surgical departments or scheduled in one department for the 12 week period. Alternate rotations may be available if appropriate and in consultation with the NGG Nurse.
