Cardiac Care
We provide specialized care to patients with serious heart illness in our Acute Cardiac and Cardiology units.
Located on the same floor of Lakeridge Health Oshawa, both teams work together to ensure our patients are receiving the right care at the right time.
Acute Cardiac Unit
This is a four-bed short stay unit for patients in the early stages of recovery from a heart attack. Designed as a step-down unit, the Acute Cardiac Unit also provides the opportunity to bring our patients closer to home faster after receiving angioplasty and other life-saving treatment elsewhere.
Patients are monitored closely by a team of cardiologist and cardiac nurses until they are ready for care on the Cardiology unit.
Cardiology Unit
On this active 30-bed unit, we provide a team approach to care that meets the needs of each individual and their family. The Cardiology Unit also cares for patients with other complex health needs being treated by our General Medicine Internists.
The Acute Cardiac and Cardiology units are located at our Oshawa site.
