Youth Crisis Intervention
Families with a child or adolescent experiencing a psychiatric emergency should seek assistance from the Crisis Intervention Team by visiting a Lakeridge Health Emergency Room. Before being seen by the Crisis Intervention Team, all patients must undergo a medical assessment by an ER doctor or by their family physician prior to arriving in ER.
Urgent Care
If a child or youth does not require inpatient care but has been seen in the ER by the Crisis Intervention Team, they may be followed on a short-term basis by our Urgent Care team or receive a referral to alternative community agencies. If the family becomes part of the Urgent Care Service, they may receive one session with a psychiatrist and up to four sessions with a therapist to address and resolve the immediate crisis. Additional services can be arranged through referrals to other CYFP programs or community agencies.
