(Durham Region) – NOVEMBER 7, 2024 – Lakeridge Health is proud to announce that it has been recognized with two significant awards from Ontario Health’s Trillium Gift of Life Network (TGLN) – Ontario’s organ and tissue donation agency – as part of the 2023/2024 Hospital Achievement Awards.
This past year, Lakeridge Health teams supported 13 organ donors, leading to 42 life-saving transplants that gave 38 people a second chance at life. Additionally, 96 tissue donors generously enhanced the lives of countless others.
In recognition of these remarkable efforts, Lakeridge Health is honoured to receive the Provincial Eligible Approach Rate Award for the fourth time. This award celebrates hospitals that demonstrate leading practices by having meaningful organ donation discussions with eligible patients and families at the end of life. Lakeridge Health achieved an impressive 93 per cent approach rate, exceeding the 90 per cent target set by TGLN.
Moreover, Lakeridge Health has also been awarded the Award of Excellence for consistently meeting or surpassing the provincial target for eligible approach rates over the last four years, showcasing an extraordinary commitment to best practices in organ and tissue donation.
