How Do I Apply?
Step 1: Email volunteer@lh.ca about your interest in joining our volunteer program. Volunteer Resources will contact you within five business days.
Step 2: You will receive a link to a pre-screening form, which you must complete before you can apply.
What Happens After I Submit the Pre-Screening Form?
Volunteer Resources will contact you within three business days.
We appreciate all who are interested in our volunteer program and are grateful to our community for connecting with us. Thank you for considering Lakeridge Health as your volunteer program of choice to enhance and enrich the quality of our facilities’ services and care through our various volunteer opportunities.
Applicant Requirements:
- At least 15 years of age at the time of application.
- Proof of at least two COVID-19 vaccines.
- Willing to complete mandatory health screening (i.e., two-step tuberculosis (TB) test and physician sign-off confirming immunizations).
- Willing to provide a police record check, including a Vulnerable Sector Screening, if requested.
- Able to commit to a minimum of one shift per week, between 3-4 hours, on the same day and at the same time every week.
New Volunteer Onboarding Process:
If an applicant has a successful interview, the next step is to complete their new volunteer onboarding.
New volunteers must complete all onboarding requirements no more than eight weeks from the date they receive their first onboarding email. New volunteers who do not communicate with us or complete all their requirements will not be eligible to volunteer. Mandatory requirements include:
- Proof of at least two COVID-19 vaccines.
- Health screening (i.e. two-step TB test and physician sign-off confirming immunization status).
- Volunteer Declaration and acknowledgement sign-off (Note: a police record check with the Vulnerable Sector Screening may be required depending on your Volunteer Declaration.) A police record check with Vulnerable Sector Screening is a mandatory requirement for all Lakeridge Gardens Long-Term Care Home volunteers who are over the age of 18.
- Lakeridge Health Statement of Confidentiality sign-off.
- Completion of e-learning modules.
- Completion of a volunteer orientation.
