Strategic Plan
Reimagine the Future of Health Care in Durham Region
As one of Ontario’s largest community health systems serving one of fastest growing areas of the province, Lakeridge Health is reimagining the future of health care in Durham Region.
Supported by a talented team of more than 7,700 physicians, nurses, health care professionals and volunteers across 16 locations, Lakeridge Health is working with partners to create an integrated health system that supports people to achieve their best health.
Our 2019-2026 Strategic Plan was developed through collaboration with our dedicated team, our community, health care providers, partners, patients and families.
Over a full year of intensive and inclusive consultation – one of the largest in our history – we received over 17,500 points of input and feedback that challenged us to think differently about how to create a future-ready health system for Durham Region.
Along with our essential role as a regional provider of high quality acute care, within five years, Lakeridge Health’s goal is to become a leading health system focused on improving the overall health and wellness of the people in our region.
Originally developed as a 5-year plan, our 2019-2024 strategic plan was extended to 2026 by our Board of Trustees in early 2023. This extension was approved as a result of the pause in the activities due to the COVID-19 pandemic, as well as our patient volumes, capacity pressures, and ongoing staffing crisis.
Through a single system of care, focused on achieving best health, we can ensure our local health system is sustainable for generations to come.
