General Surgeon - Oshawa

With five hospitals, four emergency departments, three critical care units, a long-term care home, a full range of medical and surgical specialties, more than 20 community health-care locations and a state-of-the-art surgical centre within the Jerry Coughlan Health & Wellness Centre, Lakeridge Health offers some of the broadest and most comprehensive acute care, ambulatory care, and long-term care services in Ontario.

General Surgeon (1 full-time position, 1 FTE)

Lakeridge Health is seeking a full-time General Surgeon (1.0 FTE) to join our dynamic team in delivering high-quality, comprehensive surgical care to patients in the community. The focus of this role is to provide exceptional care through a busy community general surgery practice, including participating in the Acute Care Surgery Service rotation. As part of this position, you will have scheduled resources at Oshawa base hospital, with opportunities for resources at Bowmanville site, and Jerry Coughlan Health & Wellness Centre.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to deliver patient-centered care.
  • Participate in quality improvement initiatives to enhance patient outcomes and safety.
  • Participate in Acute Care Surgery service rotation
  • Participate in the on-call rotation at Lakeridge Health Oshawa (approximately 1 in 7).

Qualifications:

  • FRCSC or equivalent and hold a license to practice in Ontario.
  • Fellowship training is preferred but not required.
  • Expertise in breast surgery preferred.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to work effectively in a multidisciplinary team environment.

  • Start Date: Negotiable, with a preferred start date of July 1, 2025.
