General Surgeon (2 positions)
With five hospitals, four emergency departments, three critical care units, a long-term care home, a full range of medical and surgical specialties, more than 20 community health-care locations and a state-of-the-art surgical centre within the Jerry Coughlan Health & Wellness Centre, Lakeridge Health offers some of the broadest and most comprehensive acute care, ambulatory care, and long-term care services in Ontario.
General Surgeon (2 part-time positions, 0.5 FTE each)
Lakeridge Health is seeking 2 part-time General Surgeons (0.5 FTE each) to join our dynamic team in delivering high-quality, comprehensive surgical care to patients in the community. The focus of this role is on acute care surgery, supporting every other week. The successful candidates will have the opportunity to perform elective surgical procedures at our main facility (Lakeridge Health Ajax-Pickering), our sister hospital Lakeridge Health Bowmanville, and our state-of-the-art outpatient surgery center (Jerry Coughlan Health & Wellness Centre).

Key Responsibilities:
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to deliver comprehensive, patient-centered care.
- Participate in continuous quality improvement initiatives to enhance patient outcomes and safety.
- Participate in the on-call rotation, including two calls per week at the main site and 1-2 calls per month at Lakeridge Health Bowmanville.
- Engage in educational and research opportunities through our partnership with Queen’s University. We encourage candidates with an interest in teaching and academic development, including mentoring medical students, residents, and fellows.
Qualifications:
- Board certification or eligibility in General Surgery.
- Current licensure to practice in Ontario.
- Fellowship training or experience in acute care surgery is preferred but not required.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- A strong commitment to providing compassionate, patient-centered care.
- Ability to work effectively in a multidisciplinary team environment.
