Child & Adolescent Psychiatrist

Lakeridge Health Oshawa invites applications for a full-time or part-time Child & Adolescent Psychiatrist to join our dynamic Child Youth and Family Program (CYFP) within the Mental Health and Addictions Program. This is a unique opportunity to become part of a collaborative, multidisciplinary team comprising Psychiatrists, Nurse Practitioners, Mental Health Nurses, Social Workers, Child and Youth Workers, and supportive management and administrative staff. Together, we provide comprehensive mental health care for children, adolescents, and their families.

The Child Youth Family Program offers a wide spectrum of services, including:

  • An 8-bed Child & Adolescent Unit.
  • Specialized initiatives such as a Mental Health Day Treatment Program, Eating Disorders Program, and Early Psychosis Intervention Program
  • Consult service to Pediatric in-patient unit

The Child Youth and Family Program (CYFP) delivers inpatient care, day hospital services, and outpatient psychiatric care. There are comprehensive therapy programs including group and individual therapy for mood, anxiety, obsessive-compulsive disorder, and chronic self-harming/suicidality (dialectical behavioural therapy, cognitive behavioural therapy, emotion-focused skills therapy), involving both parents and children.  Occupational Therapists offer social activation groups and sensory assessments. 

Lakeridge Health is also the regional lead for addictions, with concurrent disorders practices embedded thoroughly across the program

Clinical Responsibilities

  • Provide psychiatric care across inpatient and outpatient settings
  • Engage in teaching and mentoring medical students through our partnership with Queen’s University Medical School.

Qualifications

  • Eligible for licensure with the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Ontario (CPSO).
  • Completion of a recognized Psychiatry residency program with FRCSC certification (or equivalent).
  • Subspecialty training in Child & Adolescent Psychiatry is required.
  • Strong commitment to multidisciplinary collaboration and patient-centered care.
