SURGICAL ASSISTANTS - AJAX/PICKERING & OSHAWA HOSPITALS

Join our team of full and part-time Surgical Assistants, providing support in Orthopedic Surgery, General Surgery, Urology, Obstetrics and Gynecology, Non-Cardiac Thoracic Surgery and Plastic Surgery. After-hours coverage is also needed/preferred.

We have a strong, expanding surgical program with excellent ancillary support services. The Surgical Assistant provides aid in exposure, hemostasis, closure, and other intra-operative technical functions that help the surgeon carry out a safe operation with optimal results for the patient. S/he also performs preoperative and postoperative duties to better facilitate proper patient care. The Surgical Assistant performs duties under the direction and supervision of the surgeon and in accordance with hospital policies and appropriate laws and regulations.

  • Requirements: Qualified candidates must be familiar with standard concepts, practices and procedures within their field. Candidates must hold an independent licensure with the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Ontario. A minimum of 1 year of experience in a hospital surgical setting is preferred. Training and orientation will be provided for interested individuals.
