Durham Region – For the second year in a row Lakeridge Health has been named one of the GTAs Top 100 Employers  in an annual survey of employers.

“I’m proud of our team and the great work that they do every day,” said Kevin Empey, President and CEO of Lakeridge Health.  “Our people make Lakeridge Health a great place to work and for our patients to receive care.”

Lakeridge Health was recognized for creating high-quality programming and supports to ensure the hospital and its team are safe, healthy and happy.

GTA’s Top Employers is a competition amongst hundreds of employers. Employers are evaluated by the editors of Canada's Top 100 Employers in the following eight criteria:

  • Physical Workplace;
  • Work Atmosphere and Social;
  • Health, Financial and Family Benefits;
  • Vacation and Time Off;
  • Employee Communications;
  • Performance Management;
  • Training and Skills Development;
  • Community Involvement

Employers are compared to other organizations in their field to decide which offers the most progressive and forward-thinking programs. The same eight criteria have been applied since the competition was launched 11 years ago.

“We know when people like coming to work, it shows in everything they do,” Empey says. “It’s a tremendous honour to be named one of the top places to work — we’re going to continue to make Lakeridge Health even better.”

As part of the hospital’s mission to become the Healthiest Hospital Workplace in Ontario, the whole Lakeridge Health team has focused on creating a positive and constructive work environment to benefit staff and patients.

“Our new campaign, Step up – Stand Together, is all about creating an even more friendly and respectful workforce, says Empey. “That way we can become the best health care team possible for our community.”

Earlier in November, Lakeridge Health was also awarded a Gold Quality Healthcare Workplace Award by the Ontario Hospital Association. This is the 5th year in a row the hospital has won that award.
